Facing AIDS Together
Trainer’s Manual and Facilitator’s Manual
This is a two-volume set (Facilitator Guide / Trainer’s Manual) that prepares facilitators and trainers to bring effective group-based education to communities impacted by HIV/AIDS. Produced in collaboration with Freedom from Hunger, the curriculum is divided into 12 highly participatory 30-minute sessions that address topics including: basic information on AIDS, stigma, talking to partners and children about AIDS, testing, and planning for the future. An adaptation guide and adult education primer are included in the trainer’s manual.

Facing AIDS
A Christian Perspective to HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care
This manual is designed for churches, to equip facilitators with tools to educate communities on facts about AIDS and to encourage them to consider God’s plan for sex, marriage and families so that they can make healthy and life – promoting decisions. The curriculum is divided into 12 participatory sessions which includes topics such as: protecting our children from HIV/AIDS, testing for HIV, fighting stigma and committing ourselves to action.
 
Choose Life
A Guide for Peer Educators and Youth Leaders Prevention

Curriculum for 10-14 year olds or Curriculum for 15-19 year olds
This guide is especially geared for peer educators, youth leaders and others working with groups of youth. The guide provides facilitators with games, discussion questions and notes on behavior change. The objective is to enable them to effectively address HIV/AIDS from a values-based perspective. Its 12 modular lessons are progressive, leading participants through the decision-making process that culminates in a commitment to abstinence. Stories run through the curriculum, following the lives of youth and their families dealing with issues such as self-image, peer pressure, temptation, sexual abuse and unwed pregnancy.

Hope at Home
Caring for Family with AIDS

Hope at Home is a manual about caring for people living with AIDS in the home. It uses photos, drawings and basic text to describe how to offer practical physical care as well as spiritual and emotional comfort. The guide’s step-by-step instructions make it easily accessible to people with low literacy rates or even children caring for sick parents.

Our Children and Training Guide
The Church Cares for Children Affected by AIDS

Our Children is a manual for local church leaders and ministries to help them understand and take action on the needs of orphans in their communities. Our Children focuses on strengthening churches to help families caring for AIDS-affected children. The manual was developed by a group of African Christians working in HIV/AIDS and orphan support. It includes case studies and discussion questions about topics such as the Church as family, preparing children for death, economic strengthening, and the girl orphan.

Blessing
The Story of Rwandan Churches Challenging the AIDS Crisis

Blessing a booklet exploring the experiences gained in more than six years of working with churches in Rwanda to address HIV/AIDS. It presents lessons learned, program highlights, and challenges in Rwanda, including numerous case studies of churches’ responses.
A Pastoral Counseling Manual for AIDS
This manual provides curriculum and resources for training in effective pastoral counseling. This is manual is designed for pastors and others providing counseling to families and people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
 
Video Resources
This award-winning video, with an African perspective,  presents a biblically-based plea for the Church to actively respond to the needs of the many children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.  It accompanies the Our Children manual, helps communities understand, discuss and respond to the needs of children affected by AIDS and other vulnerable youth in their communities. (10 minutes)
 
This film will help you think and imagine all that might be done by God's grace to be His living hope in this time of darkness as the church leads the way in the fight against AIDS.

Sections of the curricula may be reproduced, translated and adapted with minor changes to meet local context and needs, provided that copies are distributed free or at cost and not for profit and any changes maintain the integrity of the material.
